Domination 2008

At Baby BAM Jam in College Park last Sunday, one of my dance partners and I came first in all of our events except American Waltz, and even then we came in 2nd. First in American Rumba, American Chachacha, American Tango, American Swing, Int'l Waltz, Int'l Tango, Int'l Rumba, Int'l Chachcha, and Int'l Jive. Number 2 and I were dancing up a bit and made callbacks but didn't place in our events - but we had so much fun regardless. We decided our frame and movement were excellent, but that we didn't have enough goodies in the goody bag (flashy figures), which is easy to remedy, so we were unconcerned. After all, dancing is not about winning; it's about enjoying what you're doing and being out there on the floor in front of the judges at the center of attention.

Last weekend can be summed up with the following list:

- Ownage, destruction, and just general awesomeness.
- Death (or 2nd place) to the enemy (i.e. competition)!
- Dancing!
- Driving. For hours. And hours.
- Lovely, lovely grandmas. They make me happy.
- The lovely homes of the lovely grandmas. They make me feel welcome.
- Mangoes. Never had one before!
- Joyride. In a Corvette. Thank you, Number Two, for putting your life and your flashy car in my capable hands. Heh.
- Fun, friends, fellowship, but not nearly enough food, I was starving!
- A distinct lack of caffeine headaches.

I'm slightly bewildered today; not necessarily in a bad way. It's a bewildering day. It looks like summer outside, yet it's about 57 degrees with a stiff northeastern breeze. There are some choices that I have to make, both trivial and earth-shaking, but my contemplations of these choices are in their early stages. I was a student for so long that around mid-April, a very strong need-a-change-NOW feeling comes over me, which usually coincides with impending final exams. I've got the feeling, but there's no change in sight.

I know that feeling! I still have recurring nightmares that I'm actually still in school but have forgotten to go to my classes all semester. Now it's toward the end of the semester, I am - of course - failing my forgotten classes, and it's too late in the semester to drop them. ARGHHHHHHH!

AHH! HORRIBLE! I had a dream a couple months ago that I had to retake my comprehensive exams and totally bombed them, and they revoked my master's degree... Oh man, it had me all messed up till about lunchtime the next day.
