Theme Song: Unknown Error - The Yearning
This might possibly be one of the best years of my life. Next year will most likely be even better. I think my life is going to be pretty exciting.
Two important things were granted to me this year in the form of Steven and RH 'n Shadowrunner. I'm not sure what I ever did to be so fortunate in my life, but I am totally not going to take it for granted.
What a weekend!
Friday:
S and I met RH and Shadowrunner at an authentic South Indian restaurant and had uttapam and dosai and excellent conversation. We migrated over to Goodberry's and enjoyed more silliness and delicious frozen custard, and then exchanged gifts. RH gave me a luxurious black real feather boa, a scarf that was presented with a sentence that means a lot to me, and the most beautiful thing of all - I'm not sure if I can describe it properly. It's a tree made of entwining brass wire, with its roots encircling and coiling around a beautiful piece of multi-colored quartz with flourite. The leaves of the tree are pieces of flourite ranging from jade green to violet in color. It's exquisite. <3
Saturday:
We slept in, I was morose and slightly depressed. RH and Shadowrunner departed for faraway lands. We went out to lunch at a local bar (I cheered up!), and then wandered to the used bookstore, where S bought some musical-ish books and I purchased an out-of-print copy of The Cuckoo's Egg and the 2nd book in Hobb's Soldier Son trilogy, Forest Mage (I cheered up even more!). S had a lesson with his opera guru, and I spent the rest of the evening in the company of my parents. We went out to dinner, and then my mother and I sat down and had a nice conversation over coffee. It was needed.
Sunday:
Woke up early, packed up swimsuit and other accoutrements, and met S at the church where he conducts (the choir). I... Actually enjoyed church. Such a liberal service was a novelty after my experience with Catholic services (which range from utterly uptight to quite liberal, but always a little bit too conservative for me). It was a sad service, since the congregation was suddenly suffering from a spate of accidents, but I still liked it. It was especially fun to watch S rehearse and then conduct. :P
Then... Off to the beach with S and his brother! I was pretty silly in the car and probably annoyed them. We met their parents at a resort and spent the afternoon on the beach, but it clouded up and we migrated to the hotel room to read and whatnot. Ahh. We had excellent seafood for dinner (and OMG the coconut margaritas there...), and walked along the waves to the inlet at sunset. Afterward, we went out for dessert (profiteroles!) at a posh-ish place where we were all underdressed, and I proceeded to get almost wasted. I wish I hadn't, because I only have a vague memory of experiencing that delicious dessert... There was also some sort of political debate/conversation (?) that occurred between S and the table-next-door. I fell promptly asleep in S's lap with my head sandwiched between two pillows as soon as we arrived at the hotel.
Monday:
Hungover. Was verrry groggy when I woke up, and totally missed out on coffee and breakfast. S and I showered, packed up our stuff, and headed to downtown Wilmington, where coffee and ice cream cured all ills! I slept in the car on the way home. We went out to lunch upon arriving, and then promptly crashed at my place until 7 PM, when we decided to procure dinner and then see Wanted, in which the f word was apparently used 375 times total - that's 3.125 times per minute, according to S's calculations. Bah. Ahahaha! We had fun. :D
Busy workday today. I'm determined. Inga's tonight for samba hazing, oh yes. Bring it on.
