I'm so happy and dramatic today that I can barely contain myself. Very little initiative to work. I've been listening to really melodic, sad, sweet English string music interspersed with 20th century opera and cheesy Christmas tunes. This strikes my fancy immensely.
Friday consisted of a completely uneeded and snoringly boring training seminar. After work, I gymmed it then went for sushi with Steven. We stayed at my parents' house socializing with them and Natty and Pepper until the wee hours of the morning.
On Saturday, we slept through the Christmas parade, which went right by my apartment. We heard drumline after drumline move past, but we'd stayed up pretty late the night before and ended up staying in bed till noon. We parted, I meandered and putzed till around 4, when I got dressed up and headed over to his place. We left for UNC together to listen to his two friends' junior recitals. UNC had just had their ass handed to them by NCSU (bwahaha!), but it was about 45 minutes after the game and parking was actually a possibility. It was crisp and cold and beautiful and we walked (or hopped and skipped) arm-in-arm through campus at sunset.
We were invited out with Natty, Pepper, and two longtime friends (all in Natty's bridal party) and their men. Expensive food was enjoyed by all, much fun, hilarity, and inappropriateness ensued, and we all migrated to one of our favorite little bars for drinks and chatting. It was an excellent evening - clambering in from the frosty, festive outdoors into a warm, familiar, raucous environment with people I've known for years.
Sunday, S had to conduct his choir. I rode with him in the early morning with coffee to pick up my car, and then I went straight back to my parents' place to see Natty and Pepper again before their afternoon departure. We chatted and had coffee and pain au chocolat. S & I went out for Italian for dinner after I ran a 5.5-miler, and then watched (ahaha!) Chronicles of Riddick[ulous]. Oh god, Vin Diesel. Ugh!
