The next time you write a little note to yourself - nothing formal, but for something significant - save it. When you make a big purchase, move to another place, keep the receipts and contracts. When you get a letter from a friend, do the same.
Things that seem insignificant now will be regarded by your thoughtful future children and marveled over. Many things that seem significant now are bound to be forgotten. When you pluck a string, sometimes it continues to resonate, and the notes add up over time, they chord - and other notes fade quickly or slowly. Sometimes it takes years, and the right ears, to appreciate the music, and the right minds to anticipate the melodies of future songs.
And hopefully you will be oblivious, as you hug her then, that it will be for the last time.
