Who thinks too much? I do! I do!

I've only worn this little gem-encrusted symbol of our intent to spend the rest of our lives together for 6 days. In that short span, I've been constantly bombarded with questions from everybody around me - Where? When? How? If you recall, Natty got married just two months ago, and she has told me to get on top of things, and fast.

The label of "bride-to-be" has been applied to me without my consent. I don't want to be a bride. I want to be an equal, a lover, a co-dreamer, a partner-in-crime, a cohort, a sputnik... I'm already these things. Maybe my definition of "bride" needs to encompass all of those, but when I hear the word, I cant help but envision that blushing lady in white, a symbol of worldly innocence, and yet an object of flagrant spending. Is that not oxymoronic?

Now, I'm not sure how much I want this little place here to become my Wedding Diary of Doom, but since this process is obviously all-consuming (I am dubious - but the actions of my friends and relatives say otherwise)... All-consumerist is more like it. ::gag:: The marketing business that surrounds the American wedding? Nonsense. I think the Pakistani nomads do it better - lots of bright clothes, feasts, singing, and dancing under the desert stars. None of this monogrammed-napkins, M&Ms-that-match-the-bridesmaids'-dresses and bouquets-that-cost-more-than-a-pair-of-designer-jeans crap. And heaven forbid one does it the "wrong" way. One's fellows would be shocked. ::snicker::

I know exactly what needs to happen. I tend to get all wrapped up in the whole rebellion process. But, in order to rebel, one must acknowledge that there's something worth rebelling against, and in this case, there isn't. There's no purpose in turning one of the most important events of my life into a show - either out of rebelliousness, or with the intent to adhere to society's standards.

I need to transcend. Transcend (vb, trans): to be prior to, beyond, and above.

I suggest you party like I know you two are oh-so-capable of! No, not party, parTAY! see what I did there? the "tay" makes it classy, for you to shove up the upturned wedding noses.

I still say the cake is a lie. ;)

I hope your cake is not only real, but delicious and moist.

Seriously though, I'm a bit put out myself by the Western wedding machine. I'm my hetero-lifemate's MOH and I'm doing my best to keep her from going loopy. :)

at least at a portal themed wedding, the cake would be very appropos ;)

I just saw a lot of pics from a Katamari Damacy themed wedding :)

I was actually excited about the whole wedding planning thing. But at this point, I'm sick of it and wish I had your attitude from the beginning. BEST OF LUCK!
