I Heart DnB.

Theme Song: Pendulum - Streamline (<3)

Yes, the nerd adventures. Yesterday after work, I read briefly before heading to the gym for about an hour of cardio and a half-hour of moderate/heavy weightlifting. I was feeling pretty fantastic after that, so I headed over to Steven's, where I had dinner and chilled before we picked up his brother and embarked upon our adventures. Contrary to RH's conjecture of LARPing, I actually found myself at the midnight release of the Wrath of the Lich King. Such high-quality dork in its purest form, coalescing for a singular night of geekoutage. As soon as I came home, I crashed and slept so deeply that I have no recollection of removing all of my earrings, which I apparently did at some point during the night.

I've gone for years listening to a couple of songs from Pendulum's Hold Your Colour and never heard the entire thing until it arrived at my doorstep yesterday (the 2nd release). I don't know anything about the group and ordered it as dictated by one of my random whims. Reminiscent of Prodigy, only... Better. More musical, less flat and ugly. When I listen to breakbeat, I'm either looking for something disturbing and edgy, or - a rarity in the genre, but when I do find it...! - musicality. Pendulum has both, sometimes with a funky playful twist, and briefly, a breathless otherworldliness. I want to take the album and lock it away somewhere and forget about it so I get to discover it all over again.

When I find evocative music, it's as if a few of the cracks and scratches in the lens through which I view the world are buffed away each time I stop and listen. Dark literature appeals to me, as does heavy, bizarre music - but I'm simply too buoyant to truly sink into it. Is it possible to derive light from darkness?
