Mikado Opening Night

It will be auspicious if I don't fall on my face with exhaustion later today. 4 hours of sleep. Going to the show again tonight, little groupie that I am, and then to a cast party afterward, where I'll probably fall asleep in a corner somewhere.

And the show? Marvelous, absolutely spiffing. Every single character rocked. Caspian was so . . . strange. I guess that's a compliment. His mannerisms were strange, his carriage was strange - and I've never seen him put his fencing skills to use, but he was pretty convincing wielding a katana. He was the first soloist, so I suppose he didn't have that hanging over his head, but he never gets nervous anyway. I laughed until I cried! I don't think I've ever seen a more engaging opera.

I love it when they're in English. And witty. And slightly vulgar. ;)
