Dreaming

Welp, our credit cards are completely paid off. Now, all I have left are... $24,000 in student loans.

It's time to seriously start thinking about our next homeplace. We have to give our notice at the end of this month, and I'd like to have something in the works when we do. I'm dragging my feet, since we are looking for a place with rent that is ::gulp:: $400 - $500 less than what we're paying now. Which means that we can expect a pretty significant drop in quality. Also, it's likely that we will live there for several years, which means that I need to like it. A lot. The intersection of cheap and likeable is such a fine one.

If we end up living in our new home for awhile, I would definitely consider painting interior walls in colors that I fancy, which I've never done before. I also prefer hardwood floors... Why do I have to be so high-maintenance?

Someday... I would just love to have a small contemporary home, in a nice piece of forest. Orb-spinners will weave their webs in the eaves. The walls will be creamy and the floors will be glossy. Lines will be simple; jewel colors in bright splashes, sapphire and crimson and kelly and turquoise. I will look through the window and gaze at the deep green twilight of thick summer woods. When I walk outside, my skin will be shade-dappled and my ears charmed by thrush songs. Someday.

I'm not sure how much you are paying now, but check out Windsor off of Tryon Road in Cary. It's new, but supposed to be pretty affordable, and it includes cable with the rent.

There's also a greenway and a pond, and it's right behind Harris Teeter, so you can walk to the store. One of my co-workers lives there, and she loves it.

Ahh, if only we didn't have so much to do in Durham. :( We need to be in Raleigh, preferably west or north. I love Cary. Hmm... it might be close enough to almost be in Raleigh...

I bought my place in Cary, and my mortgage + HOA dues totals $700 a month for 1100 s.f. If that sounds reasonable, then MOVE TO CARY SO WE CAN HAVE POOL PARTIES AND DRINK MARGARITAS. Also I will borrow Steven periodically for D&D.

Actually, the place I mentioned is right on the border of Cary and Raleigh, and right by the Beltine and I-40. Cary's awesome. ;-)
