Back to Reality

Okay, okay, enough with the dreams already, I know... But I've been so entertained, by my own and by everybody else's! 'Tis the season for high-quality dreaming, feel free to share!

I spent the last hour in a trancelike state induced by the iPod Steven won me at his company's winter formal party on Saturday. I swear, good music shaves a good 2 minutes from my comfortable jogging mile and adds 20 extra minutes to the limit of my endurance, which is the best it's ever been in my life. I could probably lope along at 6.0 mph indefinitely. Unfortunately, when I turned the music off to watch some recountings of the inauguration proceedings, every soul in the gym was discussing how sick they've been this winter, and I got all germophobic. Bah.

Saturday night at Maggiano's was a blast. I adore fancy parties. The red ribbon S tied around my neck early in the evening apparently functioned as some kind of beacon - I walked out into the bar at one point and every head turned toward me as if I'd been wearing a strobe light. Fortunately, the hot items of the white elephant party were all bottles of expensive booze; very few paid attention to things like iPods and expensive toiletries. I had way too many drinks for the height of my heels, but I managed to space them out properly.

Sunday was Core with the indomitable Sifu Ken, then sushi, then Wii with Steven's parents. J, D and T invited me out for buffalo wings after Core, but I honestly couldn't think of anything I wanted less than buffalo wings. And I had Monday off! I spent much of it doing laundry and having serious discussions with my mother. I was not looking forward to Tuesday, when I was scheduled to teach a couple of technical classes at a local community college - but it snowed 5 inches on Monday night/morning, and the community college was closed! I thought about my close call in the rain a couple of weeks ago and wasn't going to venture to work, and instead watched the inauguration in cozy comfort with my cats while the snow deepened. Steven the Intrepid Explorer managed to hie himself to my place without crashing his car so we could enjoy being snowed in together. I have a very nice little place here. I read, helped him with a secret project he's been working on, and napped, among other things. We ventured forth again in the evening in search of pizza to bake and soup to simmer. It was nice. <3

I spent most of today being royally frustrated with Visual Studio and wrestling around with XHTML that would magically rewrite itself when I turned my back on it, causing problems with the layout of the website I've been working on for the past couple weeks. I'm also stressed out about some things coming up next week, but I shall adhere to the tried and true 'thou shalt not blog about work' adage.
