For A Moment

I kissed Caspian goodbye at 7:15a, and to my delight, heavy snow was whirling through the air in the open space at the end of the hall. My car was dusted with maybe a half-inch of it.

Hopes and Fears (Keane's 1st album) had arrived in the mailbox last night, so I stuck it in the CD player on random. As I sped through the clouds of flakes, encased in my quiet metal bubble, Your Eyes Open was that first song.

Well it's a lonely road that you have chosen
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
And it's a long time since your heart was frozen
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore

For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know

That it's a lonely place that you have run to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore
And it's a lonely end that you will come to
Morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore

For a moment your eyes open and you know
All the things I ever wanted you to know
I don't know you, and I don't want to
Till the moment your eyes open and you know

I turned it off as soon as that one song ended and drove the rest of the way in silence.
