I think the effects of sleep deprivation must be delayed.
Last Thursday night, after working at the kitty rescue from 7 - 9:30p, Yuri called me and convinced me to "stop by" the social dance... I ended up staying until 10:30p, and then S and H convinced me to "grab" (deceptively quick-sounding) some sushi at Sushi Blues... And I got to bed at 1a. I got about 4 hours of sleep that night.
On Friday I was extra-chipper and I didn't nap at all on Saturday (which is not normal for me)... But all day on Sunday and now today, I'm dragging. Kind of groggy, lacking an appetite, punchy. After a week of poor service, I finally realized my alarm clock wasn't broken; the volume was just turned all the way down. I turned it up to what I thought was a sufficient wake-up volume, but when I was jarred to wakefulness by a shouting voice this morning, I frantically turned it back down again. Nothing like a smarmy British guy announcing the upcoming hyper trumpet concerto to get you moving in the morning.
Friday after work, I stopped by the leasing office to pick up... My brand new sewing machine! I will not lie, I danced gleefully as soon as I got into our apartment, incorporating many hops and butt-shakes... But that's a pretty regular occurrence.
While Caspian was working overtime on Saturday morning and afternoon and then out with his friends Saturday night, I toted my acquisition to my parents' place. My mother is an expert seamstress and sometimes forgets that there are some very basic sewing principles that are completely new to me - she gave me a little lesson and observed while I patched a hole in my sister's jeans. We went together to the fabric store, where she helped me pick out all of the basic implements I might need to complete most sewing projects, and then I chose two fabrics. One is a crimson satin with black and gold swirling, abstract flowers embroidered on it, and one is a simple black satin. I think I'm going to make two outrageous pillows to start out, and then go back and buy one of the exquisite brocades I drooled on while I was shopping, and make a kimono.
